The Institute

The Instituto Brasileiro de Defesa Cibernética, or IBDCyber, describes itself in its institutional presentation as a private nonprofit organisation based in Brasília and active across Brazil.

Cybersecurity and public decisions

Securing digital services involves decisions about responsibilities, resources, skills and the protection of people. These decisions require technical understanding and public debate. The Institute describes its role as nonpartisan, contributing through research, education and proposals to improve public policy.

Its stated purpose covers cybersecurity, data protection and digital ethics. Engagement with public institutions and civil society forms part of that purpose. The focus is on the conditions that enable Brazil to prevent harm, prepare institutions and sustain informed decisions over time.

Four areas of interest

This portal organises IBDCyber's purpose into four areas: public policy, research, education and cooperation. They help visitors understand the subjects addressed and find related records without needing prior knowledge of the organisation.

Public policy encompasses legislative and institutional discussion. Research helps formulate questions and organise evidence. Education addresses the ability to understand issues and make decisions. Cooperation brings together experience from different sectors and countries. These areas describe the Institute's purpose. The availability of a particular activity requires a discussion with its team and an agreed scope.

An institution explained through its records

The leadership page identifies the person named in the Institute's presentation. The activity archive brings together documented events and retains the source of each entry. External resources appear in the knowledge section with their authors clearly identified.

A separate section explains the relationship with FPCIBERSEG. It allows readers to distinguish the civil society organisation, the parliamentary group and the roles held by individuals involved in this agenda. To suggest a meeting or introduce a research question, use the institutional channels listed on the contact page.

A useful conversation starts with a specific question.
